Upgrading the tourist roads to low-volume seal standards within Etosha National Park (from Okaukuejo to the King Nemale entrance gate, including Halali detours via Namutoni) over a distance of 214 km.

The project comprises the following main works.


The project consists of five (5) phases:

  • All five (5) phases are located between Okaukuejo and Otjovazandu.

Scope of works covers:

  • Construction of roadbed – reprocessing the existing wearing course material compacted to 90% of modified AASHTO with a layer thickness of 150mm.

  • Construction of wearing course – importation of G5 material, processed and compacted to 95% of modified AASHTO with a layer thickness of 150mm.

  • The width of the road is 8m with a 1:2 side slope.

  • Drainage works, thus culverts and stormwater drifts, were constructed under Phase 4.
